Luke 19:1-11

Zacchaeus

Introduction: A man comes to know God and is restored to his community. Jesus was passing through Jericho and there was a man named Zaccheus who was a chief tax collector, and

he was rich. Zaccheus wanted to see Jesus but he couldn’t because of the crowd, for Zaccheus was a very short man. So Zaccheus ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Jesus. 5 When Jesus came to the tree, He looked up and saw Zaccheus, and said to him, "Zaccheus, hurry and come

down, for today I must stay at your house." So Zaccheus quickly came down, and received Jesus with joy. But when the people saw this, they all murmured and complained, saying, "He’s gone to be a guest with a

man who is a sinner." Then Zaccheus stood and said, “Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by cheating, I give it back fourfold." And Jesus said, "Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."
