Abram

Introduction: Many years after Noah and his sons came out of the boat God appeared to a man named Abram. Here is the story from God’s word. The LORD said to Abram, "Go, leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the

land I will show you. And I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and so you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse; and through you all the peoples on earth will be blessed." So Abram left just as the LORD had told him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Haran

and his nephew Lot went with him. He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the servants they had acquired and they set out for the land of Canaan. And God appeared to Abram and said, "To your offspring I will give this land." So he built an altar there to the LORD, who had appeared to him.

Then Abram became very wealthy in livestock and in silver and gold. Lot also had flocks and herds and tents so that the land could not support them while they stayed together. Then quarreling arose between Abram's herdsmen and the herdsmen of Lot. So Abram said to Lot, "Let's not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herdsmen and mine, for we are brothers. Is not the whole land before you? Let's part company. If you go to the left, I'll go to the right; if you go to the right, I'll go to the left." Lot looked and saw that the valley of the Jordan River was well watered, so Lot chose to go to the Jordan River. Then after Lot had parted from him the LORD said to Abram, "Lift up your eyes from where you are and

look north and south, east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever. God took Abram outside and said, "Look up at the heavens and count the stars--if indeed you can count

them." Then he said to him, "So shall your offspring be." And Abram believed God, and the Lord counted it to him as righteousness.
